Former Roslyn native Nancy Goldenberg creates artwork through the mediums of watercolors and recycled bedsheets. Her latest painting, “Flowerlady II,” stands over 12 feet tall. “It appears like an aberration from another time … a reincarnated female figure,” she says. Nancy’s earlier work employs photographs of abandoned mattresses from city streets, combined with patterns from childhood bedsheets. What inspires her unusual creations? “I am comforted by these fabrics filled with delicate lines and floating flowers, and yet I’m disturbed by the corpselike mattresses,” she says. Her work has been exhibited in Germany, Switzerland, Long Island, and Brooklyn.
